AI and Creativity at Conferences

With CVPR and NeurIPS, the world’s two most important annual AI conferences, creativity continued to be spotlighted. The main person in the world doing this work at these conferences is Luba Elliott, who covered both events for Le Random. To me, these conferences showcase AI at its most frontier, raw and experimental. It’s the unpolished, more engineering and less art side of AI creativity in all its brilliance.
Elliott’s pieces at Le Random on CVPR and NeurIPS.
At CVPR 2025, curator Elliott’s AI Art Gallery exhibited 70 works in person and 100+ online, positioning computer vision as both research field and image-making substrate. The conversations ranged from Tom White’s interpretability-driven “primary visual concepts” (mapped through Google’s SigLIP) to Justin Urbach’s event-based cameras and Karyn Nakamura’s layered, forensic approach to mediated reality. At NeurIPS 2025, Elliott’s Creative AI Track paired papers and artworks, treating embodiment, interfaces and hybrid agencies as shared research problems.
