Curated by Karen Archey and Robin Peckham, this exhibition was an important look at the role of networked technology—the Internet—in contemporary art. The exhibition demonstrated how the pervasiveness of the Internet informed all artistic creation. The term the show helped popularize, Post-Internet, was not meant to indicate a time past the Internet; rather, it indicated a now ubiquitous internet-aware mindset. The show was not entirely a celebration of the digital but responded to various aspects of the digital era, such as mass surveillance, the corporatization of aesthetics and the posthuman condition. Organized into themes like distribution, digital language and the physicality of networks, the exhibition featured artists like Cory Arcangel and Hito Steyerl, among others, cementing these artist’s place as leading digital thinkers to this day.
