Cross Talk Intermedia at the Yoyogi Gymnasium, Tokyo

This exhibition was an attempt to promote a dialogue between American and Japanese artists experimenting with technology and “intermedia.” It featured several artists associated with Jikken Kobo movement. Artists involved include Jikken Kobo memebers Yuasa Jōji and Kuniharu Akiyama, composer John Cage, experimental filmmaker Toshio Matsumoto and Stan Vanderbeek. The exhibition highlights the growing international nature of the art and technology avant-garde movement. It also highlights the impact of Jikken Kobo on the movements of the time.
