Daito MANABE launches Rhizomatiks

Rhizomatiks, a pioneering collective, emerged in 2006 and was renamed Abstract Engine in 2020, incorporated technology and artistry to focus on experimental projects that blended R&D with artistic expression. The group, comprising artists, designers and engineers, explores how humans and technology co-exist, by leading projects from development to execution, continuously delivering avant-garde creations through interdisciplinary collaborations. It was founded by Daito Manabe, whose work ranges into a variety of fields, taking a new approach to everyday materials and phenomena. However, his end goal is not simply rich, high-definition realism but recombining these familiar elemental building blocks. His practice is informed by careful observation to discover and elucidate the essential potentialities inherent to the human body, data, programming, computers and other phenomena, thus probing how the analog and digital, real and virtual worlds collide.
