Edmonds moved from Leicester Polytechnic to Loughborough, establishing the Loughborough University of Technology Computer Human Interaction (LUTCHI) Research Centre. This would serve as his new base to continue exploring the intersection of art and technology. He would be joined by Stephen Scrivener, who made LUTCHI a pivotal research center investigating the amalgamation of computers, art and technology. The center had a particular focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), becoming a thriving hub for artists and researchers, including luminaries like Stephen Bell. Notably, it played a crucial role in fostering the transition of individuals, such as Sean Clark, from computer scientists to artists. Clark and Edmonds continue to be active in the Computer Arts Society to this day. LUTCHI’s legacy can be felt decades later.
