In September, Getty’s PST ART: Art & Science Collide began, exploring art and science through 50+ exhibitions, public programs and research initiatives across Southern California. This included at UCLA, where artists Lauren Lee McCarthy and Casey Reas, along with Chandler McWilliams, presented an exhibition and a research project as part of the program, which I got to speak to them about.

I also spoke to Getty Research Institute’s Nancy Perloff about another show as part of the program, Sensing the Future: Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.). Listen here (transcript) or on your favorite podcast platform.

Finally, the later-discussed Digital Witness at LACMA was also part of the broader Getty PST ART, which is why Tina Rivers Ryan mentioned it when describing the “moment” digital art had at the end of 2024.
