Gunta Stölzl Named Director of Bauhaus Weaving Workshop

Made head of workshop in 1927 and formally Jungmeister in 1928, holding the post until 1931, Stölzl became the first woman to fill a senior position at the Bauhaus due to the wide support of her students. It was after Stölzl took charge of the workshop that its importance and innovation increased.
