International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts, Paris

A key event in the fusion of art and industry, the exhibition saw avant-garde ideas from around the globe presented for the first time. It was instrumental to the development of modern design and architecture. The term Art Deco derives from this exhibition but was only coined in the 1960s.
