Les Artistes et la lumiere, exhibition held in Rheims

Included by Frank Popper in Art of the Electronic Age as an important exhibition in the development of electronic art [Popper 14], this exposition focused on works inspired by neon lighting. Held at the Centre National Art and Technologie (CNAT), Les Artistes et la Lumiere (Artists and Light) in Reims, France, this worldwide exposition featured the bright creations of 18 artists from around the world. From neon to lasers, holograms to LEDs, the exhibition celebrated the relationship between light and artistic expression. Aiming to spark interest in light-based art, a key predecessor of digital art, artists included Liliane Lijn, Bill Bell and Pierre-Alain Hubert.
