With Cubic Limit I (1972-1975), Mohr begins his hallowed work focusing on the cube. He created an alphabet of signs from the twelve lines of a cube. He then used programs to combine, rotate and generate these signs to create images. Noteworthy works include P-155 Cubic Limit (1974-76), which was exhibited at the 1986 SIGGRAPH exhibition, A Retrospective. Despite the similarity in content, style and subject to Sol LeWitt’s exploration of the cube in the mid-70s, Mohr’s work never received close to the critical attention “on the grounds of its computational basis,” according to Grant Taylor.
