Marius Watz Begins generator.x Project
Credit of Marius Watz.

In an important early attempt at digital preservation, Marius Watz began his generator.x project documenting generative art in collaboration with Atle Barcley, director of Atelier Nord. This curatorial platform researches the use of generative strategies and software processes across digital art, architecture and design. It championed and supported this new generation of creatives who use code as a medium for artistic expression that was increasing after the introduction of the tools of the decade, including Processing and openFrameworks. The project kicked off with Generator.x 1.0: Art from Code, which featured a conference and a touring exhibition starting in Oslo in September 2005, culminating in December 2007. The initiative reflects a commitment to exploring the frontiers of digital creativity through generative methodologies.
