Ramon Llull Designs the Logic Machine

Ramón Llull’s logic machine was a device used to generate new knowledge by mechanically combining concepts and ideas. It anticipated the concept of computation, inspiring later philosophers and scientists to explore the potential of machines for generating new knowledge. The logic machine also had practical applications in fields such as language translation and cryptography. This device was highlighted in Cybernetic Serendipity as an important development in the history of the digital computer.
