Roy Ascott’s First Show: Diagram-boxes and Analogue Structures

Ascott, British cybernetic and telematics arts pioneer, had his first exhibition at the Molton Gallery, London, in February 1963 with Diagram-boxes and Analogue Structures.
The exhibit itself featured “change-paintings and other works in wood, Perspex and glass.”
Ascott himself would say about the exhibition:
“My first London show at the Molton Gallery in 1964, Analogue Structures and Diagram Boxes, was the breakthrough exhibition, in which I exhibited work based on my enthusiasm for cybernetics that serves as the starting point of al my subsequent essays into interactivity, and my play with the metaphors of science.”
He has been asked which project in his career he wanted to be remembered by:
“It would be the Molton show, because it seeded ideas that have had legitimacy and relevance beyond the analogue structures I then employed, and informs the practice and theory of the ‘new media’ arts,” Ascot told Melentie Pandilovski.
