Takawo began his habit of daily creative coding using Processing in 2015. By 2019, he transitioned to p5.js, sharing his work on OpenProcessing under a Creative Commons license. Through his dedicated practice, in which we has published around two-thousand sketches, he has found the ability to express himself with code as natural as that of spoken language, like his native Japanese. He told Right Click Save:

“Through my #dailycoding I have come to regard programming languages as natural languages, as much as they are also sophisticated algorithms.”

Takawo’s work—beyond its scope, diversity and generosity—celebrates experimentation. He employs various techniques, blending learned approaches to color and composition. His practice centers on exploring by combining different methods daily. Takawo’s daily coding work not only pushed him to continuously evolving his artistic process, but by making his work open source, he has also greatly contributed to the generative art community internationally.

This moment also demonstrates the lasting strength of the forces highlighted in the previous chapter—decade—such as the role of social media in art and technology. As we can see, its role would on strengthen as a greater percentage of the population became comfortable seeing it as a way to share art.
