From November 26, 1968, to January 5, 1969, the Brooklyn Museum hosted Some More Beginnings, an exhibition presented by Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.). Shown in conjunction with MoMA’s The Machine as Seen at the End of the Mechanical Age. The previous year, E.A.T. announced a competition—aiming to spur collaboration between artists and engineers—with the best work being feature in MoMA’s The Machine. Nine works ended up being included, while the remaining 137 were shown at the Brooklyn Museum in Some More Beginnings. The nine works shown with The Machine include works by Jean Dupuy, Tsai Wen-Ying, Lucy Jackson Young, Hilary Harris, Lillian Schwartz, Robin Parkinson, Leon D. Harmon and John William Anthes. The work included cybernetic and interactive pieces that spoke, moved, and engaged viewers in new ways. The exhibition marked yet another demonstration of the widespread interest these interventions with emerging technologies elicited in the late 1960s.
