Firmly in what many believe is the Web3 era, this nomenclature was first developed over twenty years prior. Darcy DiNucci coined the term “Web 2.0” in her article “Fragmented Future” for Print magazine. The designation was meant to underscore the Web fragmenting across devices as a transport layer. Web 2.0 includes early social networking platforms, forums, wikis and multimedia sharing sites such as Joshua Davis’s praystation.v0. Tim O’Reilly and Dale Dougherty popularized the term even further in 2004 when they hosted a Web 2.0 conference.
