The Art of Cybersecurity by Brendan Dawes

This data art project that visualizes cybersecurity threat data as a series of algorithmically generated images and a 4K animation. The work features three main components: black obelisks representing threats, an organic mesh symbolizing the detection system and flowing strands illustrating the creativity enabled by neutralized threats. Each mesh shape, generated by a unique algorithm, corresponds to five different industries: media, banking, government, technology and retail. Debuted at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, the project is a key example of the renewed interest in data visualization art that was propelled—in part—in the previous decade by Ben Fry’s work and his cocreation of Processing.
