Generative Art Timeline · Chapter 9: AI Era (2010s)
2011
Written Images by Martin Fuchs and Peter Bichsel

This book represents an attempt at a generative physical book, as each “programmed book” was a copy uniquely generated via digital printing. This innovative project incorporated contributions from over 70 media artists who created generative software, resulting in varied visual outputs. Each book featured a generative prologue by Bruce Sterling and individual artwork descriptions. The book was crowdfunded on Kickstarter and was a perhaps too-early glimpse at what a generative future may look like.
