Arithmetic Composition by Theo van Doesburg

A work which presages the mathematics-based, geometric compositions of contemporary generative art, van Doesburg’s piece stands as an example of the De Stijl movement’s attempt to create a new visual language based on geometric forms and primary colors. Its diagonal composition reflects van Doesburg’s interest in the relationship between art and technology.
