Augmenting Human Intellect by Douglas Engelbart

In this seminal report for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Engelbart proposed the idea of using technology to enhance human cognitive abilities. He argued that by developing tools that amplified human intelligence, we could better address complex social and environmental problems, creating a more equitable and sustainable world. His ideas were influential in the development of modern computing, user interface design and collaborative work systems. This vision of the computer as a tool for enhancing human intellect would be echoed by Vera Molnár in her views that the computer enhanced human intuition.
