Generative Art Timeline · Chapter 10: On-Chain Era (2020s)
2020
Composition by teamLab

This light sculpture on a flat plane above the viewer continued the two-decade career of the audio and light installation artists, teamLab, from Japan. Few groups have done more to popularize and normalize dynamic, code-based art to the public on a large scale than the influential teamLab with their nearly 400k subscribers on Instagram and the millions who have experienced their work live since 2001. Their work harkens back to the roots of electronic art and, therefore, to something fundamental to digital generative art: light and its manipulation.
