1941
Konrad Zuse Completes the Z3

The world’s first functioning programmable, digital computer, the Z3 paved the way for future advancements in computer science. Zuse built the Z3 in his parents’ Berlin apartment. The device was destroyed by the Allied bombing of Berlin in 1943.
