This non-profit professional membership group was the first association for computing. In 1969 it would produce the offshoot Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH), whose annual conference began in 1974, which to this day plays a critical role in organizing events and maintaining a database of computer graphics developments. ACM would organize an annual Computer Arts Festival onwards from 1968.
