Placeholder by Brenda Laurel and Rachel Strickland

Another work of Virtual Reality in the early ’90s, Placeholder, a VR initiative by Interval Research Corporation and The Banff Centre for The Performing Arts, was created by Brenda Laurel and Rachel Strickland. The work pioneered multi-person narrative action in virtual environments. Additionally, the publication “Placeholder: Landscape and Narrative In Virtual Environments,” authored by Brenda Laurel, Rachel Strickland and Rob Tow, offers insights into the project’s objectives and achievements.
