Generative Art Timeline · Chapter 4: Digital Era (1960s)
1969
Reticulárea by Gego (Gertrud Goldschmidt)

Gego’s best-known work, Reticulárea was exhibited at the Museo de Bellas Artes, Caracas. The work was a series of connected sculptures of net and wire-frame mesh that created an interactive environment occupying a large section of the museum’s floor, walls and ceiling. This exhibition was an important moment in the history of geometric abstraction in South America and the link between geometric, kinetic sculpture and digital art.
