The show of the year for me was Room Service, Glitch Residency’s collaborative, sprawling, relational, all-night culmination in a Burgundy chateau. After two weeks of talks, making, workshops and late-night discussions, roughly fifty residents turned the French castle into a maze of opt-in encounters: projections on the façade, improvised rituals, sound baths, interactive games and pop-up “rooms.” It’s part relational installation, performance and part Rirkrit Tiravanija-hosted cybernetic Eyes Wide Shut-themed party. At the same time, it was AI and tech centered in the way I love: weird, uncanny, only possible now. It had the looseness of a salon but it was tied together as a cybernetic system, creating a feedback loop of art, technology and behavior. It was a micro-world in an evening, the kind of experience art will be increasingly exploring into 2026.
