Computer/Culture 83 was organized by C.I.R.C.A (Centre International de Recherche, de Création et d’Animation) at La Chartreuse de Villeneuve in Avignon, France. According to the catalog, the exhibition was “composed of a multiplicity of events both complementary and dissimilar which allow the public to discover these new technologies from [their] own point of interest.” More than just an exhibition, the event featured conferences, a software festival, demos and workshops. In fact, it was even more than just a single exhibition, as the event showed the works from SIGGRAPH ‘83, Photo/Electric Art Show and Exposition: “Ceci N’est Pas un….”
