Bill Viola, Hatsu-Yume (First Dream)

This work by Viola, a pioneer of video art, now stands in the collection of MoMA. Viola himself wrote of the work: “[It] fuses a personal observation of Japanese culture with a metaphysical contemplation of life, death and nature, achieved through a symbolic exploration of video’s relation to light and reflection.”
